What is sublimation? Custom team shirts with full-colour designs
If you have seen a shirt with a design running across the whole garment, front, back and sleeves, with no cracking and no stiff patches of ink, you have probably seen sublimation.
How it works
Sublimation prints your design onto special paper, then uses heat to transfer the dye into polyester fibres. The ink becomes part of the fabric instead of sitting on top of it. That is why the colours stay sharp and the print does not peel or crack in the wash.
Why it suits custom team wear
- Full-colour, all-over designs. Gradients, patterns and photographs are no problem. See our sublimated sportswear and teamwear.
- No colour limits. Screen printing charges per colour. Sublimation does not.
- Light and breathable. Polyester sports fabric is comfortable for staff, teams and events.
- A matching look. Every piece, from body to sleeves, can follow the same design.
Who uses it
Law firms and corporates use it for a distinctive staff look, such as sublimated golfers and golf shirts. Schools and sports clubs use it for team kit: soccer and team sports, netball and hockey, rugby and cricket. Events and promotions use it for standout crew shirts and headwear.
